Haven is a joint collaboration between Game Habitat and Minc to support new game studios, and to continue to grow the successful games industry in South Sweden.
Haven is a game specific new support program to kick-start new studios through coaching, community, and workshops. It’s designed specifically for experienced game developers that are just starting out creating their own game studio.
- Malmö is a world-class game city, but in order for us to continue to be that, we need to ensure the regrowth of new game studios. Some of the world's best game developers are already here, and we know that many of them want to start their own studios. The collaboration with Minc is a step in establishing a holistic support system that makes it possible for new sustainable and equal game studios to be established in the region, says Peter Lübeck, CEO of Game Habitat.
- The aim is to attract more game entrepreneurs to choose Malmö as the hometown for their studios. In the past we have not been able to offer any support for game entrepreneurs, yet Malmö has produced some of the most famous games in the world. Now that Minc and Game Habitat are joining forces to provide business advisory and game expertise, we see an opportunity to really use the momentum and competences that exists in the city, and we expect new successful games studios to strengthen Malmö's growth, says Daniel Persson, CEO of Minc.
Haven is a joint collaboration between Game Habitat and Minc. Being in the midst of the Swedish games industry, Game Habitat is perfectly placed to support new game studios with all game studio specific issues, while Minc's expertise is top-of-the-line for all things general business development.
Haven is launched as a pilot, but the aim is to secure financing to make it permanent.
Applications for Haven are now open, the deadline to apply is July 17. The first Haven is open September to December.
